The Versatile Blogger Award

First off, I want to begin by thanking Lauryn over at Bracelets and Bangles for  nominating me for this incredible award. She is so amazing and such a doll! This is really awesome that I'm getting to do this... so here it is. So for those of you who don't really know how this works:

With this awesome award I get to do three things:

1. Give this award to 10 of my favorite blogs
2. Tell you guys seven facts about myself
3. Brag about it

So here is to my 10 favorite blogs of the moment- love you guys!

Ok, so now that thats done... I am going to reveal seven facts about myself (totally random and probably worthless) .

1. I'm almost ambidextrous, I used to be obsessed with learning how to write with both hands,
and ever since then my left and right hand have had very close reflex times.

2. I'm a bibliophil at heart, and I always will be... Ever since I was younger, I have always had a thing for books and this has turned me into a speed reader (and a fast talker)...

3. I have very strong views and am always picking for an argument on anything... controversial or not. (I will disagree with someone, just for the sake of starting a real, in-depth argument on our views)

4. Online shopping is the best kind of shopping...

5. My favorite preposition is BEYOND, and my favorite punctuation mark is the semicolon ; this is only because most people don't know how to use it and I feel smart whenever I try to explain it.

6. I am in love with traveling and the idea of living in different countries around the world.. I adore languages & cultures. ( Oh, and despite the blog title, I am not british... this is just an example of my adoration for other countries, I know... weird right? In fact, I live in the US... but its not where I was born)

7. Seven is actually my favorite number, so that makes this fact my favorite.

10 Travel Must-Haves

Ok, so this is for any semi-nomadics or even new travelers. Oh, and this list does not include the ESSENTIAL ESSENTIALS such as documents, suitcase, bag... etc. Those are a given.  This list is made up of ten items that are essential for survival. Ok, maybe not. But still. Here you go!

1. Entertainment
This can be anything from a new favorite or anticipated book (CHECK OUT MY BOOK REVIEWS HERE!) a magazine, or a cool gadget. Having something to do takes your mind of of any long duration flights or car rides. It also works to calm and soothe and reduces nausea. Having any type of music player is also very useful... listening to music is a great and fun way to kill time.

2. Comfortable Shoes
The LAST thing you want to do when traveling is to decide that you want to bring 3 pairs of stilettos on your trip. That is not the way to go. I get it. You wanna look cute. Guess what? Nobody cares. You need to make sure you are comfortable... trust me you will probably look like hell anyway (I know I do), you are NOT going to be focused on your footwear. If you have somewhere VERY VERY important to be right after you arrive, and you MUST wear really uncomfortable high heels, then bring BACK UP. I would definitely recommend bringing flats or flip flops with you and putting them into a big bag. Spare Soles are also a good idea, anything portable and easy to carry is great.

3. Emergency Toiletries
This is very helpful during any emergency situation, but i didn't know the exact terminology for it so i used TOILETRIES. But, in this section I include such things:

-Wet Wipes
-Hand Sanitizer
-Travel Size: toothbrush & toothpaste
-Dry Napkins
-Lip Balm
-And I'm going to be really weird and also say band-aids.

And other such small items... All of these items can fit into a small compact bag great for throwing it into your purse for emergencies.

4. Digital Camera
This is technically not a NECESSITY. However, I do recommend that everyone bring a camera on any trip. Memories are important and as much as everyone loves living in the moment... the second the trip is over, you will regret the fact that you have no pictures to share with family or friends. But, if this is something that is simply to much of a hassle to carry around. (I understand, there are too many cables, plugs, cases... yadayada that have to be taken care of. Plus, theres always the risk of losing your camera) Anyway, if this is not on your
top ten list. The next item(s) on our list will make up for it.

5. Pen & Paper
A journal or any paper and writing utensil is a very good thing to have with you just in case you have no other way of recording memories or sharing thoughts. Usually if your traveling alone and in a foreign country, you may find yourself longing to communicate or express yourself in your language. This is where a journal comes in. Keeping a travel journal is also a great way to

6. Insect Repellent & Sunscreen
This is one of those obvious ones. But just in case you were going to forget, Im glad I could be here to remind you of its importance. During any vacations where you plan on going to the beach, sunscreen is a MUST. It prevents premature wrinkles, skin cancer and sun burns. Even if you don't plan on going to the beach, i would HIGHLY recommend dabbing on some sunscreen before going outside. Same goes for the insect repellent. It is essential. Especially to humid or third world countries. It will prevent a lot of annoying rashes and bites that could have otherwise been avoided.

7. USB Flash Drive
To some the idea of bringing a USB flash Drive with them on vacation may seem ridiculous but it can be a real life saver. Your camera's memory won't ever be full and you'll never miss a moment. Especially with Americans, who are used to having their computer at home with them 24 seven.. when traveling to a foreign country, having such a small portable item that you can save your entire computer too is very useful. Even on business trips, this is clearly a must... you can keep all documents and such all on one device. Its also pretty inexpensive here in the USA so I do recommend investing in one. ;)

8. A Scarf
Do this is great for when deciding your outfit, a scarf is a very cute accessory that can be a big help. During long plane rides, it usually can get pretty cold... BAM! you have a handy scarf to throw around yourself to keep you warm... seems pretty simple but is very useful! It can lightweight as well... just as long as you have the comfort of a nice warm scarf on a nauseatingly long and cold plane ride. This has certainly come in handy... good times. good times...

9. Foreign Currency
Ok.. Scenario time. Your at a nice little cozy airport... but you are very tire, so luckily you just spotted a cute little cafe where you can have a seat and order something nice. You order the drink of your choice, and are VERY satisfied with the service... when the time comes for you to leave, you realize you have no euros (that was the first thing that came into my head) to pay the guy (or girl) ! OH THE SHAME!!! Well, that can be very easily avoided. You don't need to many, just make sure you have around 5-50 dollars in foreign currency. It will avoid any unwanted situations and make life a hell of a lot easier in any emergencies.

10. Voltage Converters & Travel Adapters
What's more annoying than bringing your iPod, phone, camera, and laptop and finding our you can't charge (and therefore can not use) all of these devices that you lugged halfway across the world. This is pretty self explanatory yet you would be shocked at how many people actually forget this. Well, at least you won't.

If The Shoe Fits...

Shopping is a bit of a hassle for me. It seems like such a waste of time to try on clothes 20 times in one day and then end up with nothing or just some dress that you'll probably end up not buying because the line at the register is a mile long  but when it comes to shopping for shoes, I wouldn't mind spending a whole day trying to find the right pair. My current obsession ere these adorable peep toe wedges! I'm absolutely in love with these shoes! These lovelies are made very cute when paired with anything from skinny jeans to dresses.

If you are a fellow shoe lover you can enter for a chance to win a pair of  Tsubo Footwear everyday in the Marie Claire daily sweepstakes here!

The Voice

The Voice!!!

Probably one of my all-time favorite shows! Thesecond season premiered this Sunday on NBC right after the super bowl, finallyputting an end to my agony. Some may say it’s just another singing competition but American Idol or any signing show out there can't possibly compare to The Voice.  For those of you out there who have yet to see it, the show is about four signing coaches who choose their favorite singers through blind auditions (during which they can't see but only hear the person sing) and prepare them for the competition in which there viewer's votes and the judges choose the winner. There’s nothing more entertaining than watching Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera,Cee Lo Green, and Blake Sheldon go at each other as they persuade the best singers tobe part of their team. It’s awesome watching friendly completion turn uglyespecially this year as Adam plays the “I won last year” card. Personally I'm rooting for Team Adam because I absolutely LOVE Maroon 5. Over all it’s greatshow and to anyone  that’s not watching it,YOU’RE MISSING OUT ON A LOT!!! Check it out!!

Book Review- Catching Fire

After reading the first book to the Hunger Games, (and LOVING it) I rushed out and bought Catching Fire. OK... 3 words. Really incredibly amazing. (If that makes any sense). Enough Said. This book was really good. It totally lived up to my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone willing to start a new series.. this series is GOOD! And trust me after the movie is out, you're going to have that inner conflict with yourself. Oh, you know what I'm talking about. The, "Should I read the book first?" "Huh, I probably should" "But that will take to long!" "What if I don't like it?" "Should I just watch the movie?" "But then I won't EVER be able to read the book." I told you you know what I'm talking about. So here, Ill make it easier on you. READ THE BOOKS. ok...So now that I'm done trying to persuade you into something... Im going to go into more details.. So if you  haven't read the books. STOP READING. Unless you don't care. In that case, be my guest. So anyway, this book specifically was really good, although I'm made that Katniss didn't run away like she said she was going to. Although is it just me or is this book starting to get eerily very similar to the Uglies series. Oh well, anyway... i'm also very conflicted about the whole Peeta & Katniss/ Gale & Katniss thing. I have like a love/hate relationship with both. I could make a pros cons list for you if you'd like. And since, i really don't know what you like...Im going to do it anyway.

Peeta & Katniss:

Pros:                                                     Cons:
-So sweet                                               -Peeta is really weak
-Have gone through a lot                        -Feeling is not necessarily mutual
-Very protective of one another               -Gale will always get his feelings hurt
-Really easy to just accept

Gale & Katniss:

Pros:                                                     Cons:
-So cute                                              -Gale is a criminal
-Best friends since birth                       -Everyone thinks he's her cousin
-Very much like a team                       -They will have to run away
-He has remained loyal
to her, no matter what
-Feeling is mutual

Well... That was my pathetic attempt at that. I did it for you, so you better have enjoyed it.

So anyway, enough of that. Go read the books...!!!

Some New Lip Products:

So what is all the hype about these lip products?

EOS Lip Balms

Found to be the subject of many articles, reviews and favorite products of the season, EOS lip balms come in many different colors and types... and certainly a new shape. This new sphere shape is very convenient, because there doesn't have to be any contact with your fingers, and it's egg shape makes it so adorable! After purchasing an EOS product in Summer Fruit, I found that is was very cute, easy to use and it worked! A very simple lip balm that gets the job done, i would recommend EOS. It definitely was worth it, although something I was a little disappointed about was that not all flavors were equipped with SPF anything. All in all, it is a great lip balm especially for these cold winter days.

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters

These NEW lip butters by Revlon have created quite a stir in the world of all that is lip products. You have everyone from beauty gurus to makeup critics talking about this product, it isn't too expensive...however,  it is only available to the U.S. for the time being. The difference between EOS and these Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters is the flavors and colors. There is a larger variety from Revlon, however the EOS wins in the smell and flavor department. The Revlon does offer many different matte colors that lightly color the lips. They work very well, however they do provide more color than moisture... which is something a lip balm/butter must have. Overall, it was worth it.
